29th Annual Dinner Meeting – Our guest of honor for the event was Dr. BEN S. BERNANKE, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (2006-2014). He is currently a Distinguished Fellow in residence with the Economic Studies Program at the Brookings Institution. Dr. Bernanke was interviewed by DR. SUSAN COLLINS, Joan and Sanford Weill Dean of Public Policy, Professor of Public Policy, and Professor of Economics, University of Michigan. The evening was a great success as we hosted over 1600 business and community leaders, and supported by over more than 115 West Michigan corporate sponsors. Members and guests gathered to hear a staged conversation as Ben Bernanke recalled the events leading to the central bank’s crucial actions during the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression and offered important insights into the guiding principles behind the Fed’s activities and the lessons to be learned from its handling of recent economic challenges. The invitation to Dr. Bernanke for this event continues our tradition as a venue for some of the most influential thought leaders in the world.
Our signature event also included honoring our award recipients, Dan DeVos as Business Person of the Year, and Mark Murray with the Slykhouse Community Leadership award. Congratulations to these deserving individuals. (See the complete list of both awards under the Annual Dinner tab above.)
